How to Write A Review By David Anderson Twilight's Edge

I thought in this Post I could talk about how to write a review on another act. What I will present here is the Anderson method for writing a review.

The first question is you have to ask yourself, why I am doing this in the first place. Well to begin with, your writing skills improve, you might actually start getting a bigger vocabulary and the most important part of it is, when you are writing a review for nothing in return it is a completely selfless act. That says a lot about the kind of person you are. And when the thank you's come your way, it makes all the difference in the world and it feels like it was well worth it. Wow, someone really appreciates what I think about their music or song.

The only way to write a good review is to actually get your feet wet. It is a perfect way for me to relax at the end of the day. Listening to another act and really get into it.

OK, so with that out of the way, here we go...................

1st impotant thing is to like the song you are about ready to write a review on. This makes it easier to write it in the first place, then it doesn't feel like a job and life becomes enjoyable.

2nd, I always found it best to know absolutely nothing about the artist and that way no images or information can bias my opinion. If there is a quality about the artist that reminds you of a well known artist, then throw that in the review.

3rd, always think positive towards the artist you are writing about.

4th, Listen to the song very closely, listen to every measure, look for the hooks and melodies. Make comments about the fascinating parts on the song and why it is interesting. Take notice of the little things and make a great comment about it. It won't hurt a bit, I promise.

5th is the toughest part if you don't know the technical stuff that the recording is made of. But you can recognize things like to much bottom end, vocals are drowned out by an instrument, things are distorted, maybe the whole thing isn't blended well at all. These are all the things artists want to hear about, because how else are they going to get better.

Lastly, concentrate on the good stuff first and then if there is something in the song that drags it down, then offer a constructive way of fixing the problem. Maybe you had a similar problem and tell how you overcame
it and present a viable solution.

There are undoubtedly other methods, like the Greenwood Method. Go to RockUnited.com and see how they write reviews.

This doesn't present evrything in how to write a review, but it at least is a start. I wish you all happy writing and please support your unsigned Brothers and Sisters, they would love to hear from you.

Until next time, this has been..........
